The Pacific Coral Reef Action Plan

We are working with SPREP to help foster the regional cooperation needed to protect a third of the world's coral reefs.

Pacific Coral Reef Action Plan Brochure

The Pacific Coral Reef Action Plan (2021-2030) has been endorsed by SPREP Members in September 2021. The Action Plan aims to provide the support needed to sustainably manage and restore coral reefs in Pacific Islands Countries.

The Pacific Coral Reef Action Plan is fostering regional cooperation and enabling community action, by combining science and traditional knowledge.

Coral reefs are integral to the lives of 8 million Pacific Islanders, but they are severely threatened by climate change and other human impacts.

The scientific and indigenous knowledge components of the Pacific Coral Reef Action Plan have been endorsed as a key Action of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).
