Flinch is helping the IOC of UNESCO to develop and implement a 4-year Communications Strategy including efforts to support the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development from 2021-2030.
The IOC's Communications Strategy is helping to improve the way countries collaborate on critical ocean science issues.
The IOC's strategy was designed to enable key stakeholders to promote the value that the IOC provides in enabling countries, scientists and decision-makers to collaborate on key science issues affecting our shared global ocean.
Flinch has assisted the IOC with:
Development of key communications materials such as the IOC corporate brochure;
Securing approval for the United Nations International Decade of Ocean Science (2021-2030) (Decade brochure)
Designing the Communications Strategy for the UN Decade of Ocean Science
Flinch is supporting a global campaign by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO to increase the Ocean Literacy, which is defined as: “understanding the ocean’s influence on you and your influence on the oceans”. Increasing Ocean Literacy is seen as critical for society to make informed and responsible decisions regarding the ocean and sustainable use of its resources.
In this first stage of the campaign we worked with our partner agency, EightyOne, to create a series of inspiring videos about the Seven Principles of Ocean Literacy. These videos featured a range of world famous ocean science advocates including the oceanographer, Sylvia Earle and the philanthropists, Ray Dalio and Wendy Schmidt.
